Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: AIM Death List Update 4 - Four New Entrants, now 10 kills from 27

On 13 June I started my 21 stock Death list portfolio - 21 shares heading for zero or being booted off the market - see HERE. Until now 27 stocks have entered the portfollio and I am claiming ten kills - not bad eh? Today I go over the four kills since the last update and add four new entrants to the portfolio. Do the Cloudtag morons really want to bet against me with my current kill rate? I review all 21 now current members. The stocks mentioned are: Worthington, JQW, Jiasen, Camkids, China Chaintek, Trap Oil, Mosman Oil & Gas, Monitise, Outsourcery, Magnolia Petroleum, Arian Silver, Sareum, Avanti Communications, Daniel Stewart, Mariana Resources, Sefton Resources, Golden Saint Resources, Sovereign Mines of Africa, Afren, Wandisco, Tungsten, Blur, Auhua, Afriag, InternetQ, Servision, Igas, Cloudtag, African Potash & Slater & Gordon.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 4 March - Arguing with a Drunken Sailor as rats jump ship from AIM

Rules are rules and whether it is soccer playing sex offenders or AIM Companies you have to stick to them. Moreover a COI is a COI even if sign off on and some may be legally kosher but are morally wrong. I refer to my rows with DS on 3Legs Resources (3LEG). I look at Monitise (MONI), rats leaving AIM, viz Edge Resources (EDG) & UMC Energy (UEP). I ask where is the fraud at African Potash (AFPO)? And then - to entertain Wildes - I look at LGO Energy (SHITE) again as well as at Iofina (IOF) - when will it fess up? I also ask a question of Audioboom (BOOM)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 20 December 2 - the TW Death List Christmas Update

On 13 June I started my 21 stock Death list portfolio - 21 shares heading for zero or being booted off the market - see HERE.  On 23 August I got my first kill and so Afren (AFR) was replaced by Daniel Stewart (DAN) HERE. I have now had four more kills and  nearly all those that have survived have seen their shares tank.  Now I update with 4 new entrants, given that I have had four more kills, and I review the original entrants that cling on to life. Just.  The stocks mentioned are: Worthington, JQW, Jiasen, Camkids, China Chaintek, Trap Oil, Mosman Oil & Gas, Monitise, Outsourcery, Magnolia Petroleum, Arian Silver, Sareum, Avanti Communications, Daniel Stewart, Mariana Resources, Sefton Resources, Golden Saint Resources, Sovereign Mines of Africa, Afren, Wandisco, Tungsten, Blur, Auhua, Afriag and InternetQ

Bitch fight at the twitter OK coral: top share blogger Paul Scott trashes Roger Lawson

I have long maintained that Roger Lawson of ShareScoc promoted blinkx (BLNX) without declaring a position and attacked folks like myself and Ben Edelman who disagreed, declaring that he was a “software expert”.  It now appears that the software expert was also long of Monitise (MONI) and Globo (GBO)

New Short for autumn – Boohoo at 33p, valuation a rum n’coke: first warning shot fired

Sadly for us bears most of the slam dunk mid-cap AIM shorts have already gone our way. We have had great sport with Monitise, Tungsten, Quindell, Range Resources, LGO Energy, Cupid, Globo (still more to come there), Gulf Keystone, etc. We won. The Bulletin Board Morons lost. Only Avanti Communications is still left to topple. It will.  But now I think we have a new quarry to stalk: Boohoo.com (BOO) looks a slam dunk short at 33p.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 9/11 - Looking back & forward & a rip roaring day on AIM

It is 9/11 and I look back 14 years. I also reflect on the Orwellian way we all viewed Syria earlier this week. Looking forward, we have sold 90% of the restaurant in Clerkenwell to the pizza hardman Darren Atwater. we end up slightly ahead on the deal but I have had enough of running businesses and blame my own old age and the Tories for that. This is the start of my wind-down. On AIM its a cracking day with another China fraud kill, China Chaintek (CTEK) and more fun and games at Mosman Oil & Gas (MSMN), Redhall (RHL), Monitise (MONI), Sefton Resources (SER, Cloudbuy (CBUY) and Golden Saint Resources (GSR). And I am getting into bed with Rob Proctor of Audioboom (BOOM). Not literally but...well I explain in full. in the podcast.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 9 September - more nonsense from and questions for Quindell

I start by clarifying certain rumous circulating that I am starting new businesses or getting involved with those who do. Au contraire. Very much au ffing contraire. Then it is onto today's ludicrous announcement from Quindell (QPP). I also cover Sefton Resources (SER), Goals Soccer Centres (GOAL), Auhua Clean Energy (ACE) - a dirty AIM dog if I ever I saw one - Asian Citrus (ACHL), Aquatic Foods (AFG), Daniel Stewart (DAN), Iofina (IOF) and of course Monitise (MONI)

Bulletin Board Morons can line up to apologise to me over Monitise and Iofina ( and of course Quindell) at any time. Don't all rush.

Tom Winnifrith BearCast PLC Death List Update - who is to replace Afren?

71 days ago it was world gin day and to celebrate I came up with 21 Companies that I thought would be brown bread by December 31st 2016, either delisted or bust or both - the Death List HERE. So far Afren has lived up to expectations and so I replace it with a new death list entrant in today's podcast.  It should be listened to in conjunction with my macro stockmarket crash bearcast of yesterday HERE

The companies featured today are Worthington, JQW, Jiasen, Camkids, China Chaintek, Trap Oil, Mosman Oil & Gas, Monitise, Outsourcery, Magnolia Petroleum, Arian Silver, Sareum, Avanti Communications, Daniel Stewart, Mariana Resources, Sefton Resources, Golden Saint Resources, Sovereign Mines of Africa, Afren, Wandisco, Tungsten

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 8 July - George Osborne is a twat

This has been delayed by certain IT issues here in the Hellenic Republic. I start the podcast on Greece then onto China and finally to chancellor George Osborne and his budget - the guy is a prize twat. At a company level I look at Azonto Petroleum, Monitise ( TSOA wins again!), Red Rock Resources and the fraud Jiasen.

And fear not Champagne Charlie Gibson fans, I had not forgotten about you. Just a reminder of why the Edison analyst is a convicted felon HERE and as a bonus a reminder of how it is not only the poor he screws HERE - and a reminder of why I feel the urge to remind you all HERE

The 2nd Shorting Idea of the Great Kevin Ashton from UK Investor show – sell Monitise at 13.75p

At the last minute free speech denying broker Charles Stanley, (Nomad to POS companies such as Tungsten and Coms) forced the world’s top tech analyst Kevin Ashton not to speak at UK Investor. Luckily I have his notes sent to me earlier in the week and so here is why I think Monitise (MONI) is such a stonking sell.

ValiRX – it will be different this time! Oh no it won’t Mr Bulletin Board Moron

You see my problem is that I just do not understand the exciting technology. That is what the ValiRx (VAL) experts say, well by experts I mean Bulletin Board Morons. We have been here before. Do you remember Monitise?

My thesis with Monitise was that I had looked at the numbers and it was abundantly clear that the valuation was bonkers and that cash would be an issue so I said sell at 50p so repeating my sell at 70p. The shares are now 29p (and are still way overvalued). But apparently I just did not understand the “new paradigm” and so on twitter a fellow called Share Tipster (@2years2go) stated:

@TomWinnifrith text book tosh, cop out! First - understand business, management, market dynamics + new business models old bean!

Whatever. So far I chalk that up as 1 nil to the dull number cruncher versus those who “really understand the technology”. I admit that I am no expert on what Monitise does but I can read a balance sheet and a cashflow statement.

Now that brings me to ValiRx

Video of Tom Winnifrith presentation - why Monitise is worth 10p a share

The final presentation on Monday night at the ShareProphets seminar was by myself on Monitise (MONI) as I explained why the shares were worth only 10p. With hindsight I think I might have been a bit generous but the thrust of my thesis is pretty clear cut.

Our next seminar is on Monday 10th November and features MX Oil, Obtala Resources and Interquest plus a presentation by Tom Winnifrith. Priority booking for that seminar starts later today for those registered with ShareProphets Seminars. To ensure you can book in for presentations and pizza register HERE

How Bulletin Board Morons Deny Disaster – case study Monitise

Thursday’s news that Visa was dumping Monitise (MONI) was quite clearly a disaster. It must have come as a total shock to Monitise otherwise the director who dumped 1.5 million shares at 44p on Monday (good call mate, BTW) would be heading for prison. And it is a body blow as I explain HERE.

The reaction of Monitise shareholders on the Bulletin Boards has been predictable. None of these who heaped out abuse to me for calling it right as a sell at 70p and at 50p (the latter just a few weeks ago) bother to apologise. That never happens.

Some accept that it is a disaster and have sold. Some accept that it is a disaster but say that they will not sell until the shares recover to what they paid for them. This is a common reaction among shareholders but if you think about t is insanity. The folks overpaid. The fundamentals have got worse.

Monitise - Visa is walking, shares crash, and another win for the Sheriff

Okay its time for the Bulletin Board Morons to apologise to me YET AGAIN – today’s victory is Monitise (MONI), shares in which have crashed to 31p as Visa has said that it wants out. My 10p target price stands.

I told you to sell at 50p on 29th August 2014 with a 10p target HERE

I told you to sell at 70p on 20th February HERE

Bulletin Board Morons who abused me roundly on both occasions starting with Share Tipster (@2years2go) can line up to buy The Sheriff of AIM a pizza at Real Man from noon on 29th September as they apologise. I remind Share Tipster of his tweets of August

@TomWinnifrith text book tosh, cop out! First - understand business, management, market dynamics + new business models old bean!

@tomwinnifrithoh tom, important to understand the business, market and players not just numbers, dear oh dear 0/10 for you!

Monitise: Weedy non-news, Edison puffer after profits warning: Red Flag Placing Ahoy – Sell – target 20p

Early this month Monitise (MONI) served up a dismal profits warning. Delays in revenues were – in true Rob Terry fashion – viewed as being for good reasons but once again this company failed to hit targets.  Now we see a weedy non-announcement and an Edison puffery research note all of which are Red Flags. Whatever Monitise says it is running out of cash and a placing is inevitable.

The non-announcement is of an extension of its relationship with IBM. Has that caused Edison to change its numbers? Er… well Edison says it is jolly good news ‘natch but its forecasts are unchanged.

Now to cash. In the profits warning Monitise stated:

---

Monitise – even researcher for hire Edison slashes forecasts as it worries about costs of sales

The headline on Edison’s note on Monitise (MONI) out today is bullish “FY 2014 Growth on Track” but then Edison is paid to write this note. Prostitutes do not tell their clients that they had bad breath and a small dick. Read the text and massive cuts to forecasts for the real story. Sorry Monitise but size (of your cashburn) and tumbling forecasts, does matter.

To enormous abuse from Bulletin Board morons I have expressed my own concerns about Monitise recently HERE

---

3689 days ago

Monitise – Surely the valuation is a total joke?

I realise that AIM Listed mobile banking technology group Monitise (MONI) is a Bulletin Board darling and so penning this piece will generate heaps of abuse for me (plus ca change). I am prepared to accept that this is a fine company but surely a £1.15 billion valuation at 70p is quite simply insane?

A hat tip to the great Paul Scott for flagging this up. His initial comments have prompted further thinking on my part. As such, following its interims yesterday I offer up a few red flags which make me thing this is a screaming short.
