BCA Marketplace – a tale of all that is wrong with capitalism & yes Neil Woodford is involved

This story is about grubby nepotism, egregious compensation schemes, and aggressive business strategies, with an old-fashioned, car auction house at its heart.  It threads together the microeconomics of executive incentives with the macroeconomics of the credit cycle.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - egg on face as BCA gets a PE bid

The big excitement today is the foiling of the plans of the Mrs to turn our cats into vegan, Guardian-reading, little darlings. I discuss that and the arrival of the tile polishing man at the Welsh hovel - photos HERE. Then I look at BCA Marketplace (BCA), Neil Woodford, Brave Bison (BBSN), Big Dish (DISH) and Dev Clever (DEV) as well as the general market frothiness.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: back to BCA, the Big Short & timing Woodford's next gating

Sorry for the late bearcast, I enjoyed a long chat with Reuters (see Roger Lawson not all the deadwood press hates me!) on when Neil Woodford’s Income Focus Fund will be gated. It is a when not an if and I discuss what is going on under the surface. Then it is on to Pendragon (PDG) and BCA MarketPlace (BCA) which is more of a BIG SHORT - than ever. I look at Big Sofa (BST), Amphion (AMP) which looks like a zero and finally, in some detail, UK Oil & Gas (UKOG). Now back to the rising water levels at the Welsh Hovel.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - explaining gross margins at Optibiotix

I start with missing cat news – it is mixed. Then I look at Optibiotix (OPTI) answering reader questions on gross margins, Management Resource Solutions (MRS), Bidstack (BIDS) Metro Bank (MTRO), BCA Marketplace (BCA), Alien Metals (UFO), Bould Opportunities (BOU), and an apology on Woodford Patient Capital Trust (WPCT). Now, to the 80% of Bearcast listeners yet to do the decent thing, please donate HERE. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: it is not just Julie Meyer skipping on buying a new vibrator

In this podcast I look at the woes of sex toys and lingerioe chain Ann Summers and what it says about the state of UK retail and commercial property. I look briefly at the lamentable coverage by analysts and the expense fiddling fourth estate of Purplebricks (PURP) and finally at the signs that The Big Short is finally about to come good in spades, I refer to BCA Marketplace (BCA). I start by suggesting, in the interests of transparency. that you have a butchers at the front page of the Daily Mail. If you enjoyed my Julie Meyer vibrator jokes how about you do the decent thing and go HERE

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: The tide is going out so is Avril Palmer-Baunack wearing a swimsuit at all?

In today's podcast I look at Neil Woodford's latest disaster Redde (REDD) where i accuse the management led by Avril of recklessness. I believe that she is guilty of the same at BCA Marketplace (BCA) and explain why that is the next car crash for Neil Woodford. Then there is a note on GVC boss Kenny Alexander whose behaviour last week marks him down as a prize shit. And that is me being charitable.  If you enjoyed this bearcast, follow Jim Mellon and support the Rogue Bloggers for Woodlarks HERE.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: No! Neil Woodford, this is not a fix and Malcolm Stacey ignores Anna Soubry's arse

I start with a brief discussion of my first longish Woodlarks training walk. 12 Miles done and dusted. As you consider my rather smelly feet please make a small donation to rogue bloggers for Woodlarks HERE. Then I  look at Provident Financial (PFG) and mention BCA Marketplace (BCA) and Purplebricks (PURP) en passant before commenting on Malcolm Stacey's article of earlier on penny shares.

The distressed seller of BCA shares revealed – it is, as I suggested, Neil Woodford

Yesterday I asked which fund manager was just so strapped for cash that he had been forced to sell 13 million BCA Marketplace (BCA) shares at 190p when the stock traded at 205p. I thought it was Neil Woodford. I was, as is almost invariably the case, correct – see HERE. And that makes the questions asked in today’s bonus Bearcast special, end game for Nomates, even more pertinent.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Two cracking shorts for 2019 from Shy Bear

I am shortly off to stay with my mother in law in the Grim North for a couple of days. Joy to the world! I am made angry by Wishbone Gold (WSBN) and Turner Pope and comment on that. I look also at Totally (TLY), Range Resources (RRL), AO World (AO.), Pantheon Resources (PANR), Plant Health Care (PHC), BCA Marketplace (BCA) and ASOS (ASC).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: does the BCA RNS mean Neil Woodford's funds are at death's door

I start with a report back on my torture of last night. Then I look at a day of woe for Neil Woodford, commenting on the Kier (KIE) debacle which has shown him at his arrogant and reckless worst. Then I ask questions about share trades announced late yesterday in BCA marketplace (BCA), I look at Sosandar (SOS), Optibiotix (OPTI), Bluebird Merchant Ventures (BMV), Yu (YU.) and at Avanti Comunications (AVN).

Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: tales of total woe from my local estate agent - and how to profit from it on the short tack

I visited my local Estate Agent yesterday about selling the house of the Mrs here in Bristol. He is a clever, honest and experienced chap who has done TV work and who I've known for a a while. I relay his numerous tales of woe which, I think, are symptomatic of the wider market, whatever headline data we are fed. If I am right how do you play the dire times ahead on the short tack? I discuss house builders in general, Barratt (BDEV) - if I said Bovis in the bearcast I meant Barratt -, Purplebricks (PURP) and BCA Marketplace (BCA) in this bonus podcast.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: You are going to Hell and your "blog" is toxic say two of my critics

I deal with the critics in turn. The former, a Christian, has me wrong, the latter, a knobhead, is an apologist for enablers of crime. I then look in detail at Purplebricks (PURP) and is inevitable descent to zero, and at the implications of the sad tale of African Battery Metals (ABM). Then it is onto Bonmarche (BON) blaming Brexit for its woes not the crass stupidity of the bird who runs this business of the wider macro picture which she fails to recognise could sink her business completely. I also comment on BCA Marketplace (BCA) and on the pre-Christmas plans of Joshua and myself for today, far more important than this stockmarket malarky.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Boom Julie Meyer parts company with ANOTHER lawyer in Gewanter case as Andrew Bell tries to communicate in Ancient Greek

The olive harvest starts tomorrow and I will be assisted by a Shareprophets reader from Eire and by Andrew Bell of Red Rock Resources (RRR) who is trying to communicate with the natives in his best Ancient Greek. I expliain why today's output from me is limited and then break the latest news from Julie "lingerie on expenses" Meyer MBE. Then I look at Independent Oil & Gas (IOG), Optibiotix (OPTI), Dignity (DTY) and the scam that is the funeral industry and BCA marketplace (BCA) which may have hoodwinked Andrew Monk but whose interims today are shoking. They could have been written by wretched Theresa May and are alarmingly bad. I also comment on  the Project Fear Brexit uber bollocks spouted by the not fit for purpose Bank of England Governor Mark Carney yesterday.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I agree with everyone on one matter & with in house Bulletin Board loon Wildes on another

I start with that upon which we are all surely agreed. Theresa May's Brexit deal is awful, she has acted treasonously towards Ulster and she must go now. Then it seems that Wildes and I agree on one aspect of news from Falanx (FLX) - I discuss its news today. I move on to Totally (TLY), Debenhams (DEB), BCA Marketplace (BCA), Johnston Press (JPR), Purplebricks (PURP) and First Derivatives (FDP)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: is BCA still the big short? Yes and here is why

I start with reflections on a rather plump young lady not wearing a bra parking her truck in front of my makeshift studio here in Greece. Moving swiftly on, I have a go at Malcolm Stacey over this piece and at James Bowden over this piece. I stand with Chris "three brains" Bailey on the recruitment stocks. Then it is onto BCA Marketplace (BCA). is it still "The Big Short?" I discuss in light of news both from Pendragon (PDG) and from the USA yesterday.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: on the Anniversary of the Brighton bombing & other murders by Jeremy Corbyn's Sinn Fein/IRA pals

Forgive a brief historic digression at the start of this podcast but I start with a history lesson for those misguided souls who think that SinnFein/IRA brought peace and happiness to Ireland. Then I look at some other tossers from Ulster, First Derivatives (FDP) and the 3Xs. I comment briefly on Purplebricks (PURP) and Versarien (VRS) then move via BCA Marketplace (BCA) to Neil Woodford. Then it is onto MySquar (MYSQ), Symphony Environmental (SYM) and on to UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) with a few words for Dominic Frisby on the nature of bitcoin and its bubble ahead of our bust up next week in London.

I look at the terrifying proposals to steal your cash coming from the Labour conference and I discuss Optibiotix (OPTI), FastJet (FJET), BCA Marketplace (BCA), TrakM8 (TRAK) and the fraud Eden (EDEN). I also look at brokers such as FinnCap giving away free propaganda reports, I mean research, on corporate clients.

BCA Marketplace - Apax walks, Avril talks horse

BCA marketplace – Utterly bizarre bid or non bid from Apax

We know that BCA Marketplace (BCA) is highly operationally and financially geared. It has too much debt. Its chairman dumped over a million quid's worth of shares at 188p – and Avril is no fool. The car market is struggling so there must be questions over earnings visibility . and yet from left field there may be a bid. Bizarre.

And I revisit Air Partner (AIR) which is still not answering a key question. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: surely Gert Rieder of Falcon is a fraudster who should be sent to jail

In today's podcast I start with a digression about driving to Greece given the day's good news about the hovel HERE. But I have a serious point about residual values of cars, ref BCA Marketplace (BCA), Northgate (NTG) and others. I then look at Falcon Media (FAL) and its boss who I accuse of fraud and think should go to jail. Then it is on to Milestone (MSG) - told y'all!!!! - Ferrum Crescent (FCR), De La Rue (DLR), and Amur Minerals (AMC). I have a pop at an Ulster born bimbo on BBC Business over Brexit and then discuss Neil Woodford where Roger Lawson defends the indefensible after today's shocking revelations. If you like bearcasts then remember that at UK Investor on April 21 one of many highlights will be a live bearcast with myself and Paul Scott. Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: I don't forget - why Sir Henry Bellingham MP rings a bell & is such a mega red flag

In today's bearcast I discuss the corporate history of Sir Henry Bellingham MP notably the fraud he was deeply involved with for six years - 3DM. That leaves me backing today's calls for him to resign from Pathfinder Minerals (PFP). He is a massive red flag just like ex Tory MP Tony Baldry now of Westminster (WSG) but who was also involved in the nest of vipers that was 3DM. I discuss my settlement with Roger Lawson of ShareSoc. And then I look at the bizarre share transactions at BCA Marketplace (BCA) and what they mean, i.e SELL!

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: doing some futurology to help my good friend Neil Woodford & is it game over for Andalas

Oddly enough Britain's most conceited fund manager Neil Woodford has yet to agree to appear at UK Investor Show to answer some simple questions from me. What is he frightened of? I will have to go ahead with the session without him but I hope that he does not bleat on about how he had no right of reply! Anyhow, I discuss my futurology piece of yesterday and how it should be viewed if you are, like Nomates Neil, a big holder of auto related stocks. I cover BCA Marketplace (BCA), The AA (AA.) and Northgate (NTG) in this section. I also look, en passant, at another Woodford dog RM2 (RM2). Then I cover Milestone (TOAST) and finally pick up on the most excellent post on the comments section of this site by Drunken Sailor on POS Andalas (ADL)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - an angry shareholder on the BMR Scandal and a share sale validating The Big Short

I am very excited by working through the most wonkish of data sets to show Channel 4 was serving up A grade fake news as it reported on the drought in SA last night. More on that HERE. I start with the BMR (BMR) scandal where i am an angry small shareholder. The problem is that this is not an isolated incident, I look at Telit (TCM), MySquar (MYSQ) and Sefton (SER) where crime really did pay.  Then I look at an Optibiotix (OPTI) share sale and indicate at what point i will, again, be buying. I look at a share sale in BCA Marketplace (BCA) and why that is such a massive red flag compounding the thesis explained in my major report of last Autumn, The Big Short.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - The Versarien debate, putting Lucian into context and Slater & Woodford on "cheap" Britain plays

I discuss Lucian's short on Versarien (VRS) which he discusses again today HERE. I really have no view but raise a couple of points which the bulls might take comfort from though I accept there is a valid bear case too. I look at On-Line (ONL), Lucian's new short,  and try to put Blockchain madness into a historic context. I cover BCA Marketplace (BCA) and then look at the Mark Slater & Neil Woodford thesis on "cheap British stocks." I get it but suggest that there is an elephant in that room called Jeremy.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast:Would you invent Mothercare if it didn't exist and Westminster's quandry

Apologies for the lack of a bearcast yesterday, I was just feeling tired and hacked off with the world of work. So you can have two today. I start with a look at the markets covering Greka Drilling (GDL) and related party dog Green Dragon (GDG). BCA Marketplace - the macro data out that reinforces the big short

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast - collapsing auto sales so when do house prices crash?

I start with a look at the collapse in auto sales prompted by statements from Lookers (LOOK) and Auto Trader (AUTO) but also a cracking piece on Zero Hedge HERE. The big short remains - of course - BCA Marketplace I then look at MySquar (MYSQ) and React (REAT), shares in which we, sadly, hold. Then if auto is collapsing why aren't house prices? They will. I look at a new survey on Buy to Let and the various trading statements last week, notably Countrywide (CWD).

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: Is this peak blockchain insanity - the strange case of On Line up 350%

Shares in On Line (ONL) are - as I record - up c350%. Is this peak blockchain insanity or is Clem Chambers simply the greatest spoofer in the history of mankind? What happens next is the big question. Then I look at murky share dealings in Mkango Resources (MKA) by market abuser and serial fantasist Chris Oil. Does he not care about TR1 rules at all? Then it is onto Lombard Risk Management (LRM) where I have 2 more questions about its overdraft but a very big question about how the silky words of Phil "InterX" Crawford on July 19 tally with the utterly shite H1 results. Does Nomad Finncap of Telit (TCM) infamy care? I suspect it does not. I look again at BCA Marketplace (BCA)  - THE BIG SHORT - in light of recent macro data. It remains a stupendous short. I look at management greed and an impending placing to fund that at Arian Silver (AGQ) and then at the dire interims from System1 (SYS1) and profits alert from Attraqt (ATQT). It is the former which remains a stonking sell even after today's share price collapse. And I have a question or two for AIM dog Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO)

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: When will fraudster Erik Schaer and his fraud MySquar threaten to sue me

Erik, your company MySquar (MYSQ) has committed securities fraud so I guess that makes you a fraudster. Do you think that is libellous or will you accept that I have a solid defence, viz I write what I have already proved to be 100% true: Go on you criminal low life scum please threaten to sue me? In this podcast I ask more questions about MySquar and suggest that Beaufort Securities might just put Erik out of his misery. The shares are now 1.8p to sell and 0p is inevitable.I also look at another zero in waiting BNN (BNN) where today's whitewash stinks., Finally we have a profits warning at Carpetright (CPR) which tells you all you need to know about the British consumer and his nightmare on debt street. I once again discuss BCA Marketplace (BCA) in this context. The big short.

Then it is onto the rfead acrosses from Pendragon's (PDG) statement, not least for BCA Marketplace (BCA). Then I look at the scandsalous cash-piss by the evil fake news poll tax funded BBC on Interserve (IRV) and what it means for Interserve. I look at MySquar (MYSQ) and how soon it is a zero, UK Oil & Gas (UKOG), Andalas (ADL) and then onto SalvaRx (SALV) where, the fugitive from justice in South Korea, old Jim Mellon has pumped in more cash but where a real crash crunch clearly looms.  Finally a few words on TrakM8 (TRAK)

When BCA's shares slump do not let broker N+1 Singer forget this....
