The job of a public company such as Aviva (AV.) is NOT to change society but to deliver the best results for shareholders and that should mean that for every post, especially senior ones, it must hire the most highly qualified person for the job. The worst investment would be RBS (RBS) where your initial £5,000 would today be worth £191. Other household names such as Tesco (TSCO), Marks & Sparks (MKS) and Aviva (AV.)  were just dogs.
