Ben Habib is one of those countless folks who over the years has worked with Nigel Farage and then fallen out with him. Most just give up on politics but some who have wealth and egos try to take Farage down with rival parties. Rupert Lowe of Restore is one such egomaniac. Another is Ben Habib who leads Advance UK and who is backing Lowe’s lot in the Makerfield by-election. Rugby and Cambridge educated Habib portrays himself as a successful entrepreneurial wealth creator as well as a a man of the people. His actual record bears some scrutiny.

Now I really am ashamed to be the unwitting owner of £120 worth of shares in VSA Capital (Very Sexy Andrew), the broker and financial adviser run by egomaniac Andrew Monk, a man – as he mentions daily – educated at Oriel College Oxford. In November of last year VSA racked up a big corporate fee getting an Aquis dual listing for New Zealand listed coffee chain Cooks Coffee (COOK). Cook’s was – as I showed here – insolvent at the time and VSA’s forecasts to get the IPO away were a disgrace.
