Amur Minerals (AMC) says that it does not want to merge with the perma dog tainted with the reverse Midas touch of James Parsons, that is Ascent Resources (AST). That is smart call, walking away from the unsolicited approach makes sense. Parsons always gets richer from companies he runs, mug punters are always screwed.

It’s all an all share merger of equals, each side getting 50% of the enlarged equity, with every Cenkos shareholder getting 3.19420647 New FinnCap Shares for every one Cenkos held. A marriage of equals you say? That is to say two businesses that have been equally disastrous investments. Merge two bad companies and what do you get?

Recovering from several lectures on the evils of Brexit, I send you greetings from Frogland this Bank Holiday Thursday. In today’s podcast, I look again at the Tern (TERN) – Pires (PIRI) merger. I then discuss three slam-dunk zeros: Kinovo (KINO) – whose shares should be suspended with immediate effect – Versarien (VRS) and Nanosynth (NNN), where the new CEO, Mark Duffin, is a complete clown. If he does a deal in snails, as he suggests, I am a Dutchman.

There is only one story in the financial papers today - the advanced stage talks between Sainsbury (SBRY) and Asda owner Walmart about merging the two UK operations. I discuss what any marriage, a marriage born of desperation, would mean for staff, customers and shareholders.

There are two matters under discussion in this podcast. First the merger between Aberdeen Asset Management (ADN) and Standard Life (SL.). I am bored by it. It is not what will drive the share price. Second the corrupt way the news was leaked via a corrupt Fleet Street in a way that can only harm private investors. As an "insider" in days gone by I explain exactly how this corrupt and rotten system works.

I realise that there are some out there calling for the head of Alex Borelli after the failed merger attempt between Metal Tiger (MTR) and BMR (BMR), two companies where he is the CEO. I admit it all looks odd. But my initial position is based on the assumption that Borelli saved BMR, going in after the previous boss stole all the cash. Fundamentally he is a good and honest man so surely he would not do anything dodgy. Having dug around I put to you another hypothesis.

Friday was eventful day for Leni Gas Cuba (CUBA) with unaudited interim results for the six months ended 31 March 2016 being announced along with the Posting of Scheme Circular in connection with potential Takeover by Canadian listed Knowlton Capital Inc. The proposed Merger values each Cuba share at 6.25 pence per share as stated below - for those who will believe any old shit:
