The 31 channel deaths – yes our Government is to blame because prohibition never works

It is especially when you see the smiling face of a little kid who drowned yesterday in the channel that your heart melts. Or it should. Some of those on twitter appear to have no hearts while, for others, the important matter at hand seems to be weaponizing the deaths and playing the blame game. It is the fault of the Tories, or Labour or the Frogs and little Macron.

Turkey grabs $3 billion of EU cash but now welshes on migrant deal - thank heavens for Brexit

You may remember that the leaders of the EU, backed by that imbecile Dave Cameron, agreed to give President Erdogan's Turkey $6 billion if it promised to stop migrants flooding to Europe. Forget that Erdogan gags and shuts down a free press, fires teachers who do not support his crackpot ideas, discriminates against gays, has offered overt support to Islamofascists in Syria, bombed Kurdish civilians and does all sorts of other things we are not so keen on, the EU thought it had secured a cracking deal.

The pope goes to see lesbians today but miracles wont happen

The Pope is today spending two hours on the Greek Island of Lesbos to meet a camp full of economic migrants, that is to say folks from a range of countries, but mostly Syria, who fled the safety of Turkey to pitch up in Europe. Now they are set to be sent back to Turkey in a sordid deal involving a 6 billion euro bribe and are protesting. I am not sure what the Pope hopes to achieve but I have bad news for his holiness: miracles don't happen.

It is pretty horrid seeing the folks

Tom Winnifrith podcast: EU deal with Turkey: sordid, disgusting and bad news - you must now vote for Brexit

Turkey's record on human rights, free speech on committing genocide against the Kurds on backing ISIS is disgraceful. Ignoring all that, the EU (with Britain involved) is doing a deal with the Turks on the migrants which will still see Europe having to take in millions and will cost us a packet and will see millions of Turks also now heading for Northern Europe. It is an awful deal at every level and Call Me Dave Cameron is at its centre. This should make every waverer decide today to vote for Brexit - the UK cannot afford to be part of the EU Club any longer.

Tom Winnifrith postcard #138 the shame of both left and right in reacting to the Cologne assaults

The New Year's Eve assaults on women by migrants in Cologne were appalling. But the reaction of both the left and right has been truly, and predictably, repellent. And our failure to address core issues such as welfare reform will make the problem only worse.

Send a lefty sociology lecturer to Greece to help the migrants

No it is not my Mrs but a comrade of hers who wishes to go to volunteer to help the migrants landing up in Greece from Syria and other places made hell holes as a result of misguided Western meddling. I know being nice to migrants is not popular in all quarters. I don’t expect Nigel Farage to donate. But we are in this household and if you have some compassion I ask you to consider a small donation.

Weekly Postcard 123: Orwellian BBC News lies and misleads on migrants and public sector wages

I found myself watching the BBC News this week and it was horrible in an Orwellian way. The biased BBC has a clear political agenda and it lies to its viewers by act and omission and by deliberately misleading them. On the public sector vs private sector wage issue the sleight of hand was obscene. On the migrants it just lied. The BBC should be privatized and lets see how many of us will actually pay to watch The Guardian on screen.

Weekly postcard #122 - Germany is being selfish on the migrants (and so are we) and MP's 100% wrong on assisted dying

In my first postcard for a while I feel forced to comment on two hot topics. Secondly it is why the MPs were wrong on not allowing assisted dying in the UK - they will simply add to the suffering of those who are most vulnerable. But first I explain why Germany's policy on migrants is driven purely by selfish need. Not that our own selfish policies are laudable it is just that we find ourselves in a different position.

I commented on the great victory of Comrade Corbyn in my bearcast today HERE

Weekly Postcard #112 - ISIL, The Med Migrants, UKIP, Labour & the working class edition

In a fairly long postcard from the Greek Hovel I cover a number of issues and start with the migrants in the Med and the ISIL threat - as ever the howling right wing British press has got this wrong. Then to the battle for the soul of the deserving working class: Labour vs UKIP vs The Tories - I have a few ideas for George Osborne.
