Photo Article: Vassilios Carellas of Arc Minerals finds an LSE Poster hiding in his tent

There are numerous reasons why I wouldn’t run an AIM Mining company but chief among them is a terror of what you find lurking in your tent when you go out into the bush to drill. Vassilios Carellas of Arc Minerals (ARCM) sent me a photo one what his team found in one of the tents last week. This guy won’t be posting on the LSE Asylum any more. Enjoy.

Podcast: Jamie Strauss - the recent move in gold tells me we are in a new bull market

Gold runs in the veins of veteran financier Jamie Strauss, one of the biggest names in the London mining scene. Jamie argues that the commodity sector is steadily advancing and beginning to take advantage of machine learning and automation. Also, the financing of projects now requires a lot more due diligence as sophisticated investors and streaming companies require it. All of these changes are making the sector very exciting.

Kefi Minerals at 1.53p worth 8.53p claims convicted felon Champagne Charlie Gibson

After news last week there is no doubt in my mind that Kefi Minerals (KEFI) really is very cheap. And so I present a note explianing why. Two caveats. 1. It is published by Edison which is paid to push this out so is hardly impartial. 2 The author is my old pal the convicted felon Champagne Charlie Gibson. To his credit, when not getting sozzled before driving home in his motor to go cuffing members of the working classes, Charlie does actually know a bit about mining. The note is below.

Opportunities Abound in Mining shares, How To Find Them? Gold, Uranium, and Phosphates

2017 will be a lucrative year, as we have seen the bottoming of the bear market. Uranium appears to have reached it’s bottom in early December. We are in the beginning of a new uranium bull market which should last for three to four years. The agriculture minerals are under-invested and phosphates may be a straight forward play. And gold shares will also have a run.

Gold Producers Have Underperformed And Will Continue to Lag – How To Take Advantage Of The Recent Gold Correction

Friday game: Who wants to be an African Mining Multi Millionare?

Okay this game is really simple. Pictured below are four players well known to the AIM casino resources game. All you have to do is name the four and match how much they are personally thought to have made from listed Africa plays. Sadly investors in their companies are not eligible to play "who wants to be a millionaire" as they have largely done their conkers. Anyhow, over to you dear readers.

BREAKING: The Uramin Scandal - another shocker for AIM, damning Canadian Report & arrests in France

The sale of AIM & TSX listed Uramin to France's Areva is shaping up to be the biggest scandal in the world of mining since Bre-X. It has almost brought down Areva and in France the husband of the head of Areva has already had his collar felt within the past few weeks for insider dealing and money laundering. Our source at the heart of the investigation indicate other arrests are imminent. And the scandal is also threatening to bounce back to the AIM casino.

BlueBird Merchant Ventures - first mining IPO for 8 months - we have a small flutter

I really hate backing IPOs. Many companies just struggle to adjust to life as a public company, it is like those cricketers who are great at proper cricket but just can't make the adjustment to the pyjama game. Whatever. We have had a small exposure (well not that small actually) today in Bluebird Merchant Ventures (BMV) - Bluebird Mining as was -  which is the first mining stock to make it to the London market in eight months.

Buy Berkeley Energy at a 21p offer

Investment Case: Sector: “Mining”. Therefore, it is not a surprise that, having been above 100p just over 4½ years ago and 30p 2½ years ago, shares in what was Berkeley Resources, now Berkeley Energy (BKY), traded down towards 11p earlier this year. However, the last few months have seen a recovery to a current 21p offer price and, having largely (and correctly) avoided the sector here thus far, we now sense investor confidence is at least near the bottom. This together with recent developments at Berkeley give us the confidence to now add the shares to the Gold (really mining) portfolio, considering there the potential for further good gains from here in even just a relatively stable investment environment for the industry. Should sentiment actually decently improve – as it will at some point – we should be really off to the races here… Our initial target price to sell is 30p.

Tom Winnifrith BearCast 4 September - how many AIM oil companies will disappear by April 1?

What has happened to the IPO of Lenigas Cuba? Only asking. Meanwhile I wonder what percentage of the 100 oil companies on the AIM casino will still be on the casino and engaged in oil by April 1 2016? I suggest three routes by which they will exit stage left and hazard a guess. I reckon it will be 82 left. And I discuss denial in oil versus mining and why I am almost tempted by mining stocks again

Fox Marble – I remain a buyer after AGM

Kosovo and Balkans region-focused marble company, Fox Marble (FOX) has updated investors attending its AGM that it continues to believe that “2014 will be a pivotal year in establishing Fox Marble in the market”, though “as a result of the unexpected weather conditions and one quarry site being extended to acquire the premium quality resource, production has been set back and thus booked revenues will be more strongly second half weighted”.
