Dr Tanya is on X and states her case for a pay rise, why she is striking and putting patients’ lives at risk. All she is asking for is an extra £7 an hour, it does not seem like much does it? But it is. Dr Tanya is a greedy troughing Shipman: examine her tweet in detail
Dr Tanya @veggieequallife
As a specialist registrar doctor, I’m paid £29/hour after 6 years of med school, a master’s, expensive exams & 6 years on the frontline. We’re asking for me & my colleagues at the same level to be paid £7 more an hour to £36 to restore our pay.
We intubate, operate, lead resus & save lives. £7 more isn’t greed. It’s fairness.
Ends.
So, from that one can guess that Dr Tanya is in her early thirties. On £29 an hour for a 40 hour week she will be enjoying a basic salary of £60,320. But unlike we evil capitalists in the private sector she also gets a taxpayer funded pension of 29% of salary so her total screw is £77,813 which puts her in the top 6% of all UK workers. The average UK package is just under £32,000 while average for folk like the good doctor in their thirties it is £39,998.
So Dr Tanya is already on a package worth more than twice the average national package: she is doing very well indeed. But she wants her salary to match the inflation adjusted 2008 levels notwithstanding the fact that in the NHS there have been almost no productivity gains over the past 17 years.
To put that in context she thinks its “fairness” if her total package is increased to a whopping £96,595.
That would put her, in her early thirties, with many years of moving up grades and getting corresponding pay rises, among the top 2.5% of all workers. Is that really fair for someone so close to the start of their career?
Dr Tanya just cannot see how in these times of austerity with so many folks struggling to make ends meet and with the Government in such a financial mess, her greed is so utterly selfish and unreasonable. She is greedy and selfish and just out of touch with life in the real world.
