Remember Dallas? My dad’s glamorous cousin Jeff and a career highpoint

On my first date with the Mrs we quickly found common ground, a love of the 1970s and 1980s TV show Dallas. As our relationship blossomed we agreed that one day we would go to visit South Fork but children came along and we have never quite managed it. Both of us as kids were hooked on life with the Ewing and Barnes families.

And that was before my Dad’s cousin Jeff Byron popped up on screen. Scrolling through X last night a video emerged which I share with you all.
You might find the jiggling bottom of Victoria Principal ( Pam) as she struts her stuff on the disco floor with Bobbie Ewing as the highlight of the clip. But for Jeff Byron groupies it is his appearance as Roger that is of note. Jeff was in a couple of episodes and turned out as a bit of a villain, raping Lucy Ewing.

The big break Jeff never got was twice making the short list for the role of Stephen Carrington in Dynasty. But he gave Tatum O’Neill her first on screen kiss and enjoyed a decent career starting as a child actor in Donovan’s Reef and appeared in a raft of other movies and TV shows including TJ Hooker, Wonder Woman and on the big screen Star Trek.

Anyhow, that is the glamorous side of the Winnifrith family, the Anna Lee branch. Little of that stardust has fallen on those of us who stayed in England.
