But facing a dozen charges involving five boys Stainsby has played the Ernest Saunders card arguing that due to cognitive decline he is not fit to stand trial. Thrice he has appeared in Court making that claim. But on September 1 the games stop at Warwick Crown Court.

If so, there will be no sentence but one would hope that Stainsby would, at least, be made to serve his full 14 year sentence handed out elsewhere in 2022.

My hope is that the Ernest Saunders defence is rejected and there will be a full trial. For there are other victims who could not face speaking at trial and one who killed himself back in 2022 the week Stainsby was found guilty elsewhere but already having given a statement. At the end of all of this I hope some find closure. And my bigger hope is that finally, 15 years after I started campaigning about historic physical and sexual abuse, my old school comes clean and admits, no screams from the rooftops, that it had a major problem.

There are other teachers I’d like to name but will not as, although you cannot libel the dead, I will only name a pervert if I can multi-source his activities. Though I believe any victim coming forward given the culture if Warwick in the past, one victim is not enough to justify naming a nonce. Even if the crimes occurred in the music department where there was clearly a ring at work.
If Warwick reaches out with mailings to all traceable OWs and begs those it contacts to pass on those mailings, if it places adverts in the local and regional press admitting that there was a very real problem I am in no doubt tat many more victims will come forward and more teachers will be named. Who knows, Warwickshire Police , who are still investigating one teacher I have not named lest it prejudice enquiries, might appreciate the scale of the issue and finally prosecute Watmough and others.

The abuse I suffered at the hands of the sadistic bastard Geoffrey Eve who beat up and attacked so many boys with Warwick covering up his crimes and protecting him was awful. Nobody was safe. My dad was a school governor. Another victim who I am aware of was the son of a teacher. But the school did nothing until I started my work back in 2011. Our suffering was nothing compared to that of the boys who were sexually abused. After 15 years of pushing Warwick it has apologized to we victims of Eve and admitted that there were some problems.
I hope that in my 58th year we might finally get the full confessional.
