Photo Article: the first fruit of the Greek Hovel olive harvest 2026

The main harvest starts in a few weeks. If you’d care to join me in Greece the dates are November 18 to December 4. Just drop me an email. The olives we will harvest then are tiny berries perhaps 1 cm in length which are crushed for oil. The 60-80 olives I picked before leaving the Greek hovel yesterday are edible olives perhaps an inch long.

They taste utterly disgusting right now but I shall cure them over the next six weeks and by Christmas they will be edible while another bigger batch is back from Greece and will be ready by late January.
