Today’s big gaslighting by the Government is on the small boat migrants, aka the doctors, dentists, entrepreneurs and other fine chaps fleeing a war torn and dangerous land, that is to say France. A new scheme to deport 50 a week back to the land of the cheese eating surrender monkeys is being hailed as one that will “make a difference” but given that c800 have arrived each week from France so far this year it clearly will not. Migrants know that their chances of being sent back to France are only 1 in 16, so why not gamble? Those are great odds. I sense most Brits can see through this. As Angela Rayner has discovered, being a smoker in 2021 marks you out as something of a pariah among the liberal elites. It is a sin. I write as a man who used to chuff my way through 20 a day so I am an ex sinner. But the facts are often forgotten as our betters try to stamp out this evil habit. There was, this week, a suggestion that Nanny state should charge wicked smokers a levy to deal with the inevitable healthcare issues that their habit will cause.

When Angela Rayner termed the Tories “scum” she was attacked for her language and then the papers snapped her having a crafty cigarette outside the Labour party conference. That was the picture then used because, in 2021, all smokers are deemed stupid, ignorant and just rather dirty. Truly: smoking is the new evil.

The murder of Tory MP David Amess is shocking and horrible and, naturally, one thinks of his family. But the reaction of the media and political class has been telling, a sign of just how completely and utterly out of touch they are with we dirty plebs. The same could never have been said of East End born David Amess but he was an unusual fellow inside the Westminster bubble.
