Cloudtag Results Prize Competition - win a bottle of Red Leg Rum

For a company with revenues of exactly nil despite all the lies about guaranteed sales of $5.2 million etc, the fraud Cloudtag (CTAG) takes an awfully long time in publishing its (bound to be dire) results for the year to 30 September. If you want to win a bottle of Distil's finest Red Leg Rum then it is time to enter our Cloudtag results competition. Here is how.

Weekend Competition on ShareProphets – The Collective Noun for Quindell Shareholder is?

A group of Lions is a Pride. A group of Sheep is a Flock. It is a troop of baboons. It is a destruction of wild cats, it is an implausibility of gnus and a storytelling of Ravens.  So what do you call a group of Quindell (QPP) Shareholders? Reader Chris suggests “a catastrophe” or a “mugging”  “a catastrophe of Quindell shareholders” has a good ring to it but perhaps you can do better? Post your entries in the comments section on ShareProphets, deadline is midnight Sunday.

IRA Caption Competition

I am asked by one reader to explain my nasty comments about the IRA yesterday given that one of my blog heroes is Michael Collins. Another reader suggests that I run a caption competition with the picture below. Okay. Here we go.

Lets start with the caption competition which is open ONLY to those who follow me on Twitter. Send your entries by Twitter with a deadline of 4 PM Monday. The prize is a meal for two including a bottle of (Chapel Down English) wine at Real Man Pizza Company. It will be the funniest entry that wins and complete lack of taste is no bar to winning the prize. To set a benchmark the butcher says to Her Maj “If you follow me I have for you a pair of your late Uncle’s deckshoes I kept as a souvenir.” Bad taste is no bar to winning. Tweet your attempts to @TomWinnifrith

June Extreme Weather Competition

Another Master Investor 2012 DVD on offer in this week’s competition. Simply tweet me the answers and first correct answers wins. You may have noticed that it is raining a lot. I gather that during the next three days we will see rainfall equivalent to all of what is normally expected in June.

This heavy rainfall is – like the drought that proceeded it – all part of global warming. Not.

On June 6th in the not so distant past a country cricket match had to be called off. The reason (and this is a Trivial Pursuit question) was why? The answer is “snow stopped play.” Presumably the year was one before global warming was such an issue. Well what year was it and which two teams were playing?

Auberon Waugh, Polly Toynbee and £1.25 Peroni for Euro 2012

Lucian Miers wins the Master Investor DVD for answering the competition correctly: North Devon 1979, Auberon Waugh and Rinka. I am not sure that Waugh was a terribly nice man but generally you do not stick the boot in just after someone dies. Rather famously, the loathsome Polly Toynbee did just that with a vile obit in 2001

National Hug Your Cat Day

Just a brief note that apparently today is National Hug Your Cat day. Sadly I am down to two cats as part of my move from the Isle of man back to Oxford. Hayek and Keynes had to go back to the MSPCA – so I hope they are being hugged by someone else today.
