Channel 4 reporter Lindsey Hilsum could not contain her excitement as she reported on the drought hitting Cape Town. There were a number of factors to blame but Climate Change was repeated many times. Her conclusion was clear, Governments across the world must not wait for climate change to hit them as it had hit the Cape as that would be too late, they must act now. Hmm. Fake news alert! We know Channel 4 prefers pious virtue signalling to hard data analysis but this was extreme.

I have always been a fan of Ferguson. His book Empire treats an ancestor (Ilbert) very kindly but it is as an economic historian where he really excels. Unlike Vince Cable who has predicted 17 of the last 4 recessions, Ferguson gets it right. He was one of those who called 2008 absolutely correctly. And he is now warning of a new disaster ahead making specific predictions.

It has started already. The DUP, from God's chosen land of Ulster, will back the Tories and we might just have stable Government for a while. The liberal media elite who are reporting Jeremy Corbyn's "victory speech ( hint Labour lost) is enraged. The knives are out for the DUP for they stand for everything that London millionaires despise.

I have been re-reading "Empire, how Britain Made The Modern World" by Niall Ferguson this weekend and it has some quite incredible stockmarket data and lessons for us all. It is a great read as I discuss.

My lefty sister N is the one who gave her husband, the kraut, membership of the Labour Party as a Christmas present. Jesting with her about the current woes of the People's Party is therefore not something that boosts family unity. But there is a new tease from my father.
