This should not be a left and right issue but, in the culture wars, it now is. Folks are cancelling their Netflix subscriptions in thousands not only in protest over its deal with Prince Harry and his ghastly woke Mrs but, now, because of a new film it produced and screened, Cuties. It tells the tale of young, only just teenage, girls wanting to be “dancers” and the sexualisation of these kids. Them fondling themselves in all regions on stage is, more or less, paedophilia. Netflix is now Nonceflix.
For years, Hollywood has blurred what should be a defined line on this issue. It hero worships Roman Polanski who cannot go and accept an Oscar as he is still on the run for sodomising a 13 year old girl. It has turned a blind eye to the activities of all too many other stars. It sexualises charcters in kids cartoons. The warped moral values of the liberal media elite are not those of main street America or, for that matter, most of us in Britain.
The folks who think that Cuties is fine and dandy will inevitably be the same folks who agree with new rules for the Oscars meaning that if 30% of the cast is not female, LGBT, or BAME, your movie cannot be considered for an award even if it is the best movie ever made. Most folks in the West think this is insanity just as we despise the producers of Cuties. It is them and us in the culture wars.
But what the elites forget is that it is we dirty plebs who ultimately pay their wages. This household will be one of many discussing whether to can our Netflix package as a reminder to the luvvie arts campaigners that they can, themselves, have whatever warped values they want but if they try to force those values on the rest of us there will be consequences. Go woke go broke.
