Cap Capital & an Australian solar “investment” : is this an Essex hit job?

A reader, whose views on other matters are Guardianesque enough to suggest that he has a propensity to green lunacy, has been pitched the chance to invest in Australian solar panels by some likely lads and lasses in Essex with a guarantee to get his cash back and a return of up to 15% per annum tax free. It sounds almost too good to be true and a bit of interweb research begs some questions.
