Photo article from the Welsh Hovel: first radishes produced as sweetcorn, beetroot and potatoes all now planted

Darren thought these gems below were peppers! Townies eh! In fact they are the first radishes of the season which I cropped today as a supper side dish.

Meanwhile this weekend has seen the potatoes planted and another three rows of beetroot plus a square of sweetcorn, what my old Dad used to call yellow peas.

The first strawberries are almost ripe, ditto blackcurrants and gooseberries while it is also  time to harvest the elderflower trees and make cordial and champagne.

This week will also see the last tranche of broad beans planted plus more radishes and with God now sharing the watering duties, as you’d expect him to do in Wales, the numerous marrow, squash, tomato and chilli plants seem to be racing ahead. It’s all go.
