What else would one do on a rainy afternoon in North East Wales? Whilst I harvested the 40 or so younger apple trees I have planted here at the Welsh Hovel some weeks ago, the older apple trees by the river are still heaving with fruit. And thus Joshua and I filled three buckets…
First they go into the blue scratter to produce a pulp which goes into my small press. What is left goes into the wheelbarrow and to the compost heap. If only I had a pig, it would love it. Finally the bucket fills up. Five crushed Camden tablets are added and I am ready to bottle the 20 litres or more of juice produced.
There are still apples on the trees and if I am bored I still have bottles and fridge space to fill.
Joshua and I dropped off bottles with half our neighbours and will do another run today. The crop this year is enormous
