Having been the subject of the two minute hate before I am somewhat reluctant to post on the Village facebook page these days but this morning I was so enraged I could not hold back. Is my post below really so unreasonable?
How would you feel if I walked into your private garden with a pet not on a lead that terrified your pets? Don’t worry dog owner: my pet alligator is fine with dogs.
Yet again I find myself having a shouting match with a trespasser. That is to say a woman who thinks its her right to wander into Deeside Farm and up into my vegetable patch and garden with dogs not on leads. I point out its private land but she says “there is no sign” at what is very clearly the entrance to the farmyard.
I say her dogs are not on leads and I have cats and she says “is okay they are not bothered by cats.” My cats ARE bothered by, terrified of, dogs.
I ask her to leave and she says she will just carry on further into my private garden to reach a gate into vicarage close. There is no gate.
I am apparently a “rude man” as I demand she leave by the only exit, the way she wandered in with her dogs which she made no effort to put on a lead as we conversed.
She is a trespasser and my cats do not like dogs roaming freely. My youngest child is rather frightened of strange dogs too.
I have no real problem with folks walking along the river, indeed I have mowed a path on our fields to make this a pleasant experience, as long as any dogs are on leads, mess is cleared up and folks do not wander into what is obviously private space.
But just wandering through our gardens with dogs not on leads, takes the piss and such rudeness and irresponsibility leaves me considering allowing anyone on the land.
Can folks please show some consideration for my land, young family and my cats?
And to the lady who I just shouted at, assuming you don’t have a sign up, I will be up to wander through your garden with my pet alligator not on a lead later. Don’t worry he loves dogs, especially at breakfast time.
