This is almost an annual ritual. On December 31 2025, as you can see below, the Mail ran images of snow free ski lifts at Chamonix and warned that snow levels were disastrous and would shut ski centres across the country because of global warming. Well guess what?

At Chamonix 90 centimetres of snow fell, on Friday alone and most of the ski lifts are now closed not because there is too little snow but because there is too much snow, creating the risk of avalanches.
Across the French Alps it snowed again today, dropping another 30 centimetres of global warming on Chamonix alone with more forecast for tomorrow.
But let’s not allow facts, hard data to get in the way of the global warming narrative because the media and the experts tell you that it is “settled science’”
