The BBC is creaming itself as we enter the final part of June and temperatures go up. It’s a heatwave again and more proof of man made global warming we are told. And it’s not just Britain, the Frogs are sweltering as well with the BBC today reporting the highest temperature was 43 degrees in Bordeaux. Wow.
Unfortunately the Frogs do not have much temperature data before 1947. I’d love to see the 1936 records as in that June folks across the Northern hemisphere sweltered, the dust bowl was raging in North America. But we are told that the highest temperature yesterday was 43.6 degrees, hot but still a couple of degrees shy of the record. The BBC says this was in Bordeaux.
What it does not tell you is exactly where in Bordeaux. I shall give you a clue. It is exactly 7 miles from a City centre so the ambient heat is increased by urban sprawl ( tarmac gives off more heat than open fields). And as a bonus it is at Bordeaux-Merignac which happens to be a hectic international airport with three terminals where at this time of year jet planes are landing and taking off constantly bringing in tourists seeking near Mediterranean temperatures.
Just as the highest Welsh temperatures are nearly always at Hawarden airport and the highest English temperatures at RAF Coningsby and thus localized, and for obvious reasons rogue, data is cited as evidence of nationwide global warming, the Frog data is also suspect. Not that the BBC reports this in an accurate manner.
You can bet the ranch that when you head 10 miles away from the airport and further from the City the temperature will be, at best 41.6, i.e. nowhere near French record levels and probably well below 1936 in the pre global warming heatwaves which charecterised the 1930s.
