Okay I might have to ‘fess that I had, er, a “friendship” with a senior official at the FCA back in the black and white era but would that really compromise my independence? For a screw of £35-45,000 a year for a couple of days a month I can think of worse jobs. The thing is that NEDS are meant to be independent and I can think of nobody who is more independent of the FCA and willing to hold it ton account than myself. The job spec is clear:
