At 10.45 AM, the family all trooped up the hill to what is known as the Cross, the heart of our village of Holt near Wrexham where the war memorial stands. My nine year old son Joshua knows about the World Wars and is, as I write, penning an essay plan for me on “for who was Dunkirk a disaster?” Even soon to be five Jaya is aware of something of our history as a nation and also as a family.

In this wild and whacky year do you remember back to the early days of the Coronavirus crisis when we were told that we all needed to rally round to give the NHS 30,000 ventilators to stiop everyone dying? It was one of those many moments when Boris Johnson thought he was Winston Churchill. Instead of little ships summoned to the beaches of Dunkirk it was little businesses across the land summoned to make ventilators to save the fecking NHS.

Marie Claire showed commendable liberal idiocy for its take on the film Dunkirk. USA today was almost on a par. But the winner of the liberal metropolitan elitist idiot commentator on this war movie depicting an actual historic event is Robert Fisk of the Independent, a man who has real form when it comes to being a stranger to the truth. It is thanks to Robert that we have the phrase "to Fisk" meaning to go through a newspaper article to discover the series of statements from the post fact era.

The magazine written for millennial women, Marie Claire, has slated the film Dunkirk. This time it is not about its factual accuracy in having a male and white cast. This slating from the liberal media is even dafter. The tweet below says all you need to know about this 80 year old market leading title which, a former editor stated "is read by intelligent women who are in tune with global issues." You have got to be kidding.

USA Today loves the movie Dunkirk and gives it a rave review. Its only caveat is that "the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color may rub some the wrong way." Saints preserve us.
