Buy Fresnillo ( one of our share tips of the year and its already flying)

Fresnillo (FRES) has seven operating mines all of them in Mexico. This impacted it in 2022 with Mexican labour reform challenges adding to the wider ones such as supply chain bottlenecks and cost inflation. In October a third quarter report concluded “remain on track to meet our 2022 full year guidance of 50.5 to 56.5 moz of attributable silver… and 600 to 650 koz of attributable gold production” and just yesterday the company was “pleased to confirm the final testing of the downstream power distribution and control systems at the Juanicipio project is now complete… commissioning of the project has formally begun. Ramp up will now be conducted at pace”.

Is this the worst Trump & crooked Hillary reporting yet? BBC World News heads out West

I was lying in my hotel room in Greece a couple of weeks ago and tiring of dubbed films and piss poor Greek soccer matches made the mistake of flicking the handset to check out the biased BBC World News Channel as it promised a special report on the US Campaign. Oh goodie, goodie, a report on how Trump had that week surged ahead in the polls right? Er...

First up said the airhead presenter we go to Donald Trump's campaign and our reporter goes to somewhere where he has very few supporters at all. Hmmm Might that be Hollywood? Or the most hipsterish district in Brooklyn? Or perhaps Mitt Romney's Country Club? No. The BBC Reporter was in Mexico. This will surprise you greatly but in a town near to the border which the Donald wants to tighten the BBC managed to find a raft of folks who were happy to say that they were anti Trump.

Shucks I guess The Donald is gutted. Just how many electoral college votes

MX Oil shares collapse as Mexico revokes licenses, BB Morons blame it on Tom Winnifrith

According to Reuters the Mexican Government has revoked six oil licenses because the companies awarded the blocks did not in fact meet qualifying criteria. This appears to wipe out the Mexican asset base of MX oil (MXO). Oh dear.

Arian Silver – The Dog takes the Piss Again: a Welsh joke

Woof, woof, woof! How many times have I warned (correctly) that AIM & TSX listed silver company Arian (AGQ) is a total and utter dog? I have lost count. Those who ignored me have lost 90% in three years but at 34.5p the shares are still hugely overvalued. The quarterlies were slipped out at 6.59 AM today just a minute before the 7 AM rush so that folks might not notice just how dismal they are. I noticed…

Woof – where do you start? Arian is building a new processing plant in Mexico and the uber-Welsh management team finds that prospect almost as exciting as the idea of being stranded alone on a desert island with a flock of pert young sheep. I am rather less excited about Arian’s prospects.

Having to Choose 14 beers to drink – it is a hard life as we prepare to launch Maribelle’s

You know I have a hard life. Deciding which 14 bottles of beer to drink is the sort of chore that I have to suffer. I can sense the waves of pity heading my way. Actually it was not quite as it seems.

The countdown to the launch of our new Spanish themed wine bar Maribelle’s is accelerating. We go live on Monday February 3rd at 91-95 Clerkenwell Road.  Fear not, Real Man Pizza is not closing – it thrives with its new menu as the quirkiest Italian restaurant in town. It is just that we are opening up our unused basement as Maribelle’s. And so last week I worked hard on:

Hiring a new waitress. The first girl to walk in was Ana from Spain. What can I say? Her CV was perfect, she wants to be a journalist but she could be a model. She had the job in 30 seconds. No messing about there. An easy executive decision.

Then the wines – 25 Spanish wines, white, red, rose, Cava. I love a white Rioja. That was fun. Eight Sherries as well. I know I kind of associate sherry with our grandparents, with what my philosophy tutor at Oxford Dr Malpas used to pour before a tutorial or with the 1970s. But white Sherries, chilled, can be fantastic and we have a cracking selection on offer.

Then to the “Spanish speaking beers”. This is a bit of a cheat. Of the 14 one is a Spanish cider. And seven come from Spain. The rest are from Argentina, Peru, and Mexico and – as a real cheat since they speak Portuguese there – one is from Brazil. I dithered about the Argie lager but it is just so good.

Then the real treat – the tapas menu. A few heated discussions with Maribelle herself (our chief waitress from Spain who has two degrees in economics and takes her clothes off to campaign for world peace) ensued. But we have agreement now and this week the cooks will be practising hard to get everything just right.

The sign makers are commissioned and new signage goes up this week while the electricians and carpenters are in over this weekend.  This afternoon Darren and I will finalise the artwork (some debate over a brass model of a woman’s bottom is still to be concluded – I vote yes, Darren and his Mrs are dithering) and the furniture. And then down to the marketing literature featuring Ana.

All of the team at Real Man is very excited about this new venture. Fingers crossed. I hope to see many blog readers popping into Maribelle’s from the third. Hint: Ana works Tuesday to Thursday.

Aurcana: Second Mine Now Operating Makes This A Strong Silver Play For 2013

2012 was not a good year for precious metals stocks and with a number of commentators calling gold lower, December was another poor month. However TSX and OTC listed Aurcana Corporation (AUNFF.PK) announced on 14th December that its second major silver mine, in Shafter, Texas, was now in operation and that has propelled it into the ranks of the mid-tier producers, something not recognized in a share price of US$0.94. As production ramps up during 2013 this stock is one that should enjoy a material re-rating. My target share price is US$1.89 per share.
