Warwick School’s public admission & apology to we victims HERE, twelve years into my campaigning, that it did have a problem with historic sexual and physical abuse, and my naming of one master, the music teacher Charles Watmough HERE seems to be opening, in a small way, the floodgates. Since Thursday two more victims of Watmough have come forward. I spoke to number 5 this morning…
He, like victim 4, will be reporting this matter to Warwickshire Police and also to the school. I have already introduced these two men to a Policewoman at the Force who has been looking at historic sex abuse.
With the Police now aware of 5 men who claim to have been abused by Watmough and with four having given statements it must surely be time for the Warwickshire force to re-open the enquiry which saw Watmough interviewed under caution in Scarborough in 2019. Yes he is old and frail but that is all the more reason to crack on and deliver justice for his victims.
I do not, for a second believe that in more than a decade at Warwick he abused only five boys and the more victims who come forward the more the pressure will grow on the Police to re-open this case.
