The hottest June on record say the Met Office and the BBC, it’s just all lies

As we are half way up a mountain the temperature here at the Greek Hovel is a bit cooler than down by the sea. But it is still in the mid thirties and I venture outside less than the younger folk here, preferring the cool of a large living area, kept chilled the old way by thick stone walls and the new way by air conditioning. I gather that back in the UK the alarmists at the BBC and the Met Office have noted that it is quite hot and are insisting that this is demonstrable proof of global warming.

It may be that the world is getting hotter or it may not be and it may be that the cause of either the warming or the cooling is man made. But the data presented to you by the Met and the BBC is so bogus that it proves nothing and that should make you at least sceptical. Folks who believe in real science do not need to make things up.

We were told to expect heatwaves in June. I am old enough to remember 1976, the year my mum died. I remember walking with her around a reservoir on the way to Boddington, almost emptied by weeks of drought and heat and through fields a scorched brown as they are here in Greece. In a field near Whitby where we camped for a week, old man-made lines from a bygone era appeared in the ground because of the heat. Aunt Miggy, who owned those fields said she had not seen them for decades since the last very hot summer. Back then we were not being told that global warming was only just starting.

In 1976 there were 16 consecutive days in June when temperatures were above the normal monthly average. That meets the definition of a heatwave (three such days) and, boy, it felt like one. Sadly for the alarmists they did not get three straight days in June 2025 so adopted a new phrase of which George Orwell would be proud, “a day with heatwave conditions.” In other words not a heatwave at all but just one day when the temperature was above average for that time of the year. We will always get some days and some below average days, it is called weather. But we need to be scared by the alarmists so we need a new phrase.

You may ask “how is the temperature measured?” The Met Office has stations across the country and so we are also told where the UK was at its hottest. More often than not it is where the BBC refers to as Coningsby in Lincolnshire. What it should be saying is a temperature gauge by the runway at RAF Coningsby where jet fighters land and take off. That process can bump up readings by several degrees centigrade. But the BBC does not mention that.

The warmest June 2025 temperature recorded by the Met Office was a sizzling 33.2 degrees at Charlwood. That gauge is less than a mile downwind from the runway at Gatwick Airport. It too, is clearly not fit for purpose and its data should be ignored. The hottest place in Wales, incidentally, is invariably Hawarden, home to the Gladstones but, more importantly, to an enormous Airbus factory and associated airport.

In fact, it appears that 78% of the Met’s weather stations are officially classified as junk Class 4 and 5 sites, based on World Meteorological Organisation guidelines as they are near airports, busy roads or in walled gardens designed to trap heat. The WMO says such data should be ignored but the taxpayer funded Met and BBC use it anyway to scare us all. Your money is being used to promote data that is known to be wrong.

And, of course, busy roads and airports are busier, so creating more ambient heat today, than ever before so comparing Met data from 2025 with even that from 2000 let alone 1976 is comparing apples with pears. So, what about the claim that this was the warmest June since records began in 1884? Well that is not only based on bad data but is, in fact, demonstrably a lie.

You will note that data up to the early 1900s had no stations near places where cars or jet planes bumped up the ambient heat as there were no cars or jet planes. Even in 1950 there were very few jets and so the Met’s data compares apples with pears. But its worse than that.

Records did not begin in 1884 as you citizens of Airstrip One are being told by the Met. There are other records, the Central England Temperature series, which date back to 1659, showing that the warmest June occurred in 1846. The Junes in 1676, 1822 and 1826 were also hotter than that in 2025 even with its bogus data from jet planes and Motorway traffic!

There are no records going back to the Medieval warm period but tree rings show clearly that Junes in Britain back then were far hotter than 2025

At every level the FACTS you are being told by the alarmists are patently bogus, complete rubbish. It is almost as if they are pushing an agenda. Of course, pointing out bad data or blatant lies, leaves one labelled a “denier”. So be it.

The growing ice mass at both poles and the fact that all those Islands that we were told would be submerged by rising sea levels as early as 2012 are still enjoying the same land mass, make me sceptical about the claims of the Doom Goblin Greta al-Thunberg and other alarmists. That they have to lie and use bad data to justify their claims should make you sceptical too even if flagging up such “inconvenient truths” in the Geography GCSE in Airstrip One would see you automatically failed.

If only my late uncle Christopher Booker was still around to write this article and to revel in the sordid stupidity of those who spend our taxes and expect us to believe “the experts” without question.
