Back in November 2017, I gave a guest lecture at Bath Spa University where my wife then worked. What then followed was truly Orwellian and paints this wretched and failing institution in the worst possible light. Why mention this now, three years later?
The Mrs and I have been asked to give evidence in an industrial tribunal of another ex Bath Spa employee who is claiming constructive dismissal. The individuals this ex colleague faced up to are largely the same ones I encountered so, natch, the Mrs and I have filed detail witness statements to demonstrate patterns of behaviour. And, for me, writing that up over the weekend brought back all the horrors of late 2017 and the first half of 2018.
Amazingly, two of the key players I faced then have obtained promotion since then, despite their actions which in a less sinister and Orwellian environment would have seen them sacked in disgrace. And thus when this case is over I plan to write up what happened and I shall name names. I would hope that, at that point, senior figures at Bath Spa will take appropriate action against their internal Stasi and perhaps send me a long overdue apology.
