Canada’s MPs applaud and cheer an actual Nazi in the name of Russiaphobia

Call me somewhat old fashioned if you wish, but I am not a great fan of folks who fought in Nazi Regiments in World War Two. My Great Uncle died fighting against such chaps and three of the most important people in my life are Jewish who have very few relatives left in Europe because of what those Nazi fellows got up to. But, as I say, maybe I am just old fashioned. As the excerpt below shows a 98 year old man hot a standing ovation in the Canadian Parliament yesterday with President Zelensky also applauding. The President got 10 standing ovations as he addressed the fawning MPs.

As the commentator makes clear, the 98 year old is now a Canadian but during the second world war fought against the Russians.  That would be the Russians who were after June 1941 on the same side as Britain and Canada. Yes those Russians. Um…..

The chap in question joined the newly formed 1st Galician Regiment of the Waffen SS in 1943 when aged 18. As apologists for what happened at the weekend, such as my esteemed friend and co-worker from Canada, Darren, point out this regiment was investigated by a Canadian Royal commission in 1996 as rather a lot of the chaps from this regiment appear to have pitched up in Canada and found, in what is a classic whitewash, to be jolly sound.  The 1st Galician did not kill many if any Jews. That is because by the time of its formation other folks had already killed almost all of Ukraine’s Jews.

But, though the Canadians gave it a free whitewash it was guilty of war crimes, notably in Poland where it massacred several thousand civilians, often burning them alive in barns in places such as Huta Pieniacka.  The unit fought not only the Russians but Partisans in Yugoslavia and also against Polish and Slovak partisans. In short it was not fighting against Russia it was fighting with Germany and if you look at its cermonies and the speeches its leaders gave it is beyond doubt that they were fascists. Many of the men who signed up had been involved in fighting with the Nazis since 1941 in other units and had been involved in atrocities such as the slaughter of the Jews of Lviv.

To honour a man who fought in this unit of Nazis is stomach churning. But it appears not to matter even to a Jew like Zelensky who must have known what the phrase” a Ukrainian who fought against Russia in the second world war” means. History is being rewritten. So the Russians (who liberated Auschwitz) are banned from the liberation ceremony while the Ukrainians ( who provided a vast number of the staff at Auschwitz) are invited.  Even today streets are renamed and statues erected in Ukraine  to Banderite “heroes” from the war years, Jew killers but we are told there are no Nazis in Ukraine. Although the Western media was all over that story ten years ago, before we in the West were told that during the two minute hate we had to shout “the Russians are Nazis, Slava Ukraini”

The man in Canada’s Parliament this weekend was a Nazi combatant and the sick folk there applauded him without thinking for a second what the phrase “a Ukrainian who fought against Russia in the second world war” MUST mean.  Such is the state of rabid Russiaphobia nobody seems to care.

Slava Ukraini, Salava Ukraini. Pass the sick bag.
