The odds on the next Archbishop of Canterbury being a straight white man were longer than the odds on me getting lucky with Cheryl Cole while watching West Ham win the FA Cup on the telly. And thus, today, the new leader of the Church of England has been announced….
I parted company with the Church when it showed utter cowardice in locking doors, imposing pointless social distancing and in destroying my father’s funeral for no reason at all during the scamdemic. As a final straw I walked out of Midnight Mass last year as the vicar lectured her flock on the evils of Israel. I am not alone, the Church is collapsing. If it believes in nothing other than apologizing for an imaginary role in the slave trade, nobody will believe in it. So will Sarah Mullally save the doomed ship that is the C of E
Apparently she supports even more immigration into this country. She was a supporter of the BLM movement and opposed Brexit. She is pro LGBTQ Rights and in favour of abortion. I am not sure where she stands on Jesus or the 10 commandments, she seems rather less keen on speaking out on such matters than on the great issues of our time. I’d bet the ranch that she believes in man made global warming, reads the Guardian and thinks that the BBC News is somehow in hock to Reform UK although it is jolly good on the Middle east.
In Godless metropolitan places like Islington where nobody believes in the old guy in the sky and it is fashionable to mock anyone who does, Sarah’s views will go down well but still nobody will actually go to Church.
But in the rest of the UK, those who might actually consider themselves Christians might be less keen. I can almost write her first Christmas sermon for her: “Jesus was a refugee, we must be nice to migrants and as we think of the Holy Land we must reach out to the people of Gaza as they suffer , blah, blah, blah.
The Church of England is doomed.
