The global warming nutters are having a field day in this long dry summer. This year, 2026, the BBC and others insist is proof of man-made climate change, or global warming as it was once called. I refer you back to the year 1540
In 1540, Europe endured an unprecedented 11 month drought. The death stones on central European rivers indicate that it was one of the worst in 500 years. In other words not quite as bad as that around the time of the Norman conquest but still awful. From England in the West to Poland in the East rain barely fell according to more than 300 preserved chronicles . It was hot. How hot we do not know as there was no way of recording temperature back then, but the chroniclers all say it was very hot.
Rivers like the Rhine, Elbe and Seine shrank so low that people walked across them while forests and whole towns burned, crops failed, livestock died. Water was recorded in France as being “scarce and expensive.”
From England, Charles Wriothesley’s chronicle stated: “This yeare was a hott sommer and drie, so that no raine fell from June till eight daies after Michaelmas, so that in divers partes of this realme the people caried their cattle six or seven miles to watter them, and also much cattle died…”
In other words with far fewer people to support, the lack of rain and drought was far worse than 2026.The Rhine is low this year but not low enough t walk across. Ditto the Seine.
A logical fellow would say: “if Europe was drier and more drought ridden in 1540, i.e. before man made carbon emissions, than today how can you establish that today’s weather must be caused by man made carbon emissions? If 1540 was just bad weather as was 1473 how do you prove that 2026 is not just bad weather as was the drought in the 1000s that almost wiped out the Tiwanaku empire in South America?”
But global warming cultists do not do logic. And that brings me to coral reefs.
It is a mantra of the cultists that seas are warming up so the Maldives is drowning ( its land area is actually expanding but who cares about facts) and that the warmer water is killing coral reefs. But as I demonstrated HERE back in 2021 coral reefs are not in fact shrinking and so when Prince William gives his, I mean our, money to create new coral to replace that killed by warmer seas caused by global warming he was just spaffing his cash. Or rather our cash. A fool and his (I mean our) money…
I was early in calling out the coral scam. For this week we have great excitement from the world’s biggest coral reef, the Great Barrier Reef. It has now grown for 5 years and the chart below shows up to early this year. It has now grown more to reach a new record extent. So a logical person would say to a cultist:
“You said that global warming was causing the oceans to warm which would kill all the coral. The IPCC stated in 2018 that coral reefs would shrink by 70%. But they have grown. What part of your settled science was wrong?”
But for the cultists the science is settled so the great coral surge is just another inconvenient truth that in Orwellian fashion will be forgotten, dying coral reefs once an obsession of the BBC and other fanatics as they spread gloom , will be ignored as they thrive and grow and indeed the cultists will pretend they were never mentioned at all.
Instead we can talk about wild fires. Because 1540 never happened and 2026 alone proves the science. Even if wildfire damage is actually at a 15 year low. And even if part of that damage is caused by environmentalists driving rewilding, that is to say campaigning to stop diggers going into forests to create firebreaks which stop wildfires. Let’s talk about wildfires. Coral reefs are so passe.
