Tom Winnifrith Bonus Bearcast: explaining North Sea oil economics to comrade Malcolm Stacey and the Probiotix nightmare continues

I start with the economics lesson for Red Malcolm, looking at the North Sea, BP and Shell and his Marxist scribblings of yesterday. Then it is onto Probiotix (PBX) and where we stand.

Emma Raducanu - the hypocrisy of Nigel Farage and the divisiveness of the left

It is like National Velvet but far better, the rank outsider coming through to win a major sporting event. Emma Radacanu seems such a pleasant young lady discussing how honoured she is to have had a message from a role model that is the Queen, after her win. Wearing that crucifix, so unfashionable in Britain today, this is a girl who has worked hard to get A’s in maths and economics A levels just a couple of months ago and who talked of celebrating with chocolate frozen yoghurt with added chocolate. So like the whole nation I wake up thinking how wonderful this British sporting heroine is. But if there is a bandwagon there is always Nigel Farage.

Zarah Sultana makes another stunning pitch for the title of Britain's stupidest MP

Obviously this is a hotly contested title with a crowded field but Labour’s Zarah Sultana is looking to be in a class of her own. It was only a week ago that she served up a tweet which demonstrated an ignorance of economics that would have embarrassed my cat. But today she has trumped even that effort.

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast: What is a Cloudtag moron & the great EU blow-up we are missing

For the nth time not all Cloudtag (CTAG) shareholders are morons. But some are. I discuss how one defines a moron but also responding to "Rachael" I discuss why my combative style is needed and will not be changing. It cannot be an excuse for some of the things that have gone on. Yesterday's Cloudtag moron has now noticed my wife is of Indian origin and is emailing me accordingly. Then I look at the EU. The issue is not Wilders or Le Pen but economics and I present some data that will truly scare you. The can cannot be kicked down the road forever.

Mariana Mazzucato - Sussex University Economics Prof & BBCQT panelist - she is utterly bonkers

Post Trump the BBC tries hard to show it is balanced by having an American on the Question Time panel. Naturally it always chooses a nutso liberal democrat so that he or she can join the other panelists and hand-picked audience of Guardian readers in saying that the victory of Trump reminds them all of Adolf Hitler and is awful. Heaven forbid that Question Time might actually invite on an enthusiastic Trump supporter to represent the 59 million. So this week's token yank was Mariana Mazzucato who actually teaches over here at Sussex University. God only help her students.

Brexit: a Remainer in denial on facts: meet nutty eco-potting tweeter Petra Mason

We all have opinions about what might happen and no-one can prove that your opinion on the future is wrong. The sun will rise tomorrow is an opinion. I suspect few would disagree with it but since it is in the future not the past it is not a fact. Facts (a word derived from the Latin for it has happened) are a different matter. But not it seems if you are a nutty Euro loon who cannot accept the Brexit vote. Meet Petra Mason who has a degree in behavioural ecology and is into pottery and tweeting gibberish.

Petra served up this tweet.

Weekly Video Postcard( as audio) #96 - two more reasons why as a conservative I despise David Cameron edition

On both civil liberties and on economics/business matters David Cameron has recently shown himself as an opportunist but not a conservative. I refer to his email snooping demands and to his obscene suggestion that business passes on a (temporary) dip in oil prices to its workers with a (permanent) hike in wages. I despair and I despise the man ever more

Picture Special – Report from the Greek Hovel Number 4

I spare you photos of the Rat Room, aka my bedroom for the next three months. I would not wish to scare the Mrs so will tidy it up a bit first. But it is by far and away the smartest room at the hovel. In fact it is the only one not completely littered with junk and totally unfit for human habitation. It is on the top floor next to the snake veranda. Here are both from the outside.

Labour Party Councillor has sex with an alien 4 times a year

Just to show that UKIP does not have a complete monopoly on Nutters, and to show balance I refer you to Labour Councillor Simon Parkes from Whitby who says that he has sex with an alien four times a year and this is causing tensions with him human wife. Ok. Compared to Ed balls on Economics this seems quite plausible but none the less...

Cllr Parks says that he has had a child called Zarka with an alien who he calls the Cat Queen. Mr Parkes, a driving instructor by trade,

The driving instructor, who has three children with his human wife, said the intercourse with the alien happens about four times a year. “What will happen is that we will hold hands and I will say ‘I’m ready’ and then the technology I don’t understand will take us up to a craft orbiting the earth," he said.

Parkes has also claimed he was abducted by extra-terrestrials as a child and that his “real mother” is a 9ft tall alien with eight fingers. But residents of Whitby should not worry. Parkes states:

“It’s a personal matter and it doesn’t affect my work. I’m more interested in fixing someone’s leaking roof or potholes. People don’t want me to talk about aliens. I get more common sense out of the aliens than out of Scarborough Town Hall.”

Cllr Parkes UKIP application interview video, oops sorry I meant to say revelations of his alien experiences, can be watched below.

Fun Self Quiz from the US – Where are you on the spectrum? And the bias of its compiler.

If you have a spare few minutes this is a fun little quiz to take. Answer 20 questions and you will be ranked on a liberal to conservative spectrum on a) social issues and b) economic issues. It will not surprise you that on economic matters I came out on the extreme conservative end of the spectrum (in fact right on the end of the chart). On social matters I came out almost at the other end.

The quiz is here.

Incidentally, I have worked out why I failed to get a perfect 100% non correlation. That is to say why I am not classed as extreme liberal on social issues.
