Today, I remember the worst one day slaughter of Jews since world war two, the October 7 pogrom of two years ago in Israel. 1195 people were murdered, babies, kids, women, holocaust survivors. Many of the women and girls were raped and sodomised by Hamas before being executed. Bodies such as the UN refused to see that #Metoo applied to Jewish women and denial of the atrocities Hamas themselves filmed is still widespread. Other folks were kidnapped. Still today, 20 live jews and bodies of 28 dead jews remain in tunnels under Gaza. We remember this event and we should all say Never Again. But, to Britain’s eternal shame we will not.
Indeed, our wretched Government has rewarded this atrocity by recognizing the State of Palestine with hostages still held captive and Hamas vowing to fight on, to carry on killing Jews. This evil madness has consequences as I warned here, a warning that took just days to be proven accurate as an Islamist attacked Jews in Manchester.
I have always spoken out in support of Israel and also Britain’s Jews. In the old days, more than two years ago, that caused a few problems. A compliance officer at RSH, a firm I had founded, stopped me writing on the matter for a while for reasons I never understood. I responded by turning up to work in T-shirts supporting Israel and the IDF. With hindsight I am ashamed that I did not resign on the spot and call this evil out. In the old days, a few folks objected to my views and words fand stopped doing business with me. But since October 7 2023 things have changed massively.
I’m not Jewish but receive dollops of anti semitic abuse from folks who cannot understand how a non Jew could support the jews. Islamists have threatened to disrupt and close down my business unless I stay silent. A material number of folks have cancelled their subscription to ShareProphets. Some try to hide their hatred of Jews and merely argue that Israel has over-reacted. They fail to say what they consider a proportionate response to the pogrom, the kidnappings and to promises by Hamas to do the same thing again and again.
Today, as most folks will spare at least a thought for what happened on October 7 some will celebrate the atrocity. At both Liverpool University and at Goldsmiths college events are being staged to celebrate what is termed “resistance.” Back in October 2023 I exposed a Professor at Lancaster University, Simon Mabon, who celebrated the pogrom. Natch his employers did not sanction him at all. Large swathes of academia have now become places where Jew hatred is acceptable. It is a small step from praising a Hamas pogrom to egging on folks who murder Jews in Manchester. As for the BBC…I do not know where to start.
In that vein, bracing myself for an inevitable response for writing this, I remember those in Israel two years ago but also keep in my thoughts Jews across the West now suffering the worst harassment since the 1930s. Never again will I be cowed into silence in standing up for Israel and the for the Jewish Community.
We should all be saying something this October 7. But too many will stay silent and, far too many will celebrate this anniversary of horror.
