Already there are discussions about which parts of the UK will need a hosepipe ban next year. The BBC and others in the media GroupThink talk of ongoing droughts which is all down to man made global warming. You will recall that I have become somewhat obsessive about the ”droughts” affecting reservoirs in this part of North Wales, such as Lake Vyrnwy since the water level collapsed showing the villages the wicked English had flooded all those years ago.
This was seen by the GroupThink as yet another sign of global warming and we were warned we must get used to it. The BBC and others rushed reporters to Vyrnwy to warn us of the doom that lay ahead if we did not mend our wicked ways.
As I have documented many times since that bogus call in the last summer of 2022 that was nonsense. The River Dee flows out of Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala to you evil Imperialist colonisers), which along with Vyrnwy are the big reservoirs whose levels are tracked. The Dee eventually flows along the edge of my garden and fields, so protecting us from the accused English, before heading to the Sea on the Wirral. As I speak it is elevated with the low lying fields in England already underwater.
2023 was, as it happens the 11th wettest year since 1836 in the UK with 1,290 mm of rain falling. 2024 was the 23rd wettest year since 1836 with 1,241 mm falling. The Eighteen month period after the dire warnings of perennial drought in late 2022 was, in fact, the wettest 18 month period in the UK since 1836. 2025 has been drier with a very dry spring and summer ( cue howls of global warming) but a very wet Autumn indeed. November was torrential and that has continued into December.
For what it is worth, across the United Utilities region covering North East Wales and North West England reservoir levels as at last Wednesday were at 84.6% above last year’s 77.9% and above the long term average of 83.7%. Here in Wales, Tegid and Vyrnwy were at 89.4% above last year’s 82.9% and the long term average of 84.6%
So that “drought” the “experts” and GroupThink media bubble insisted was inevitable thanks to man made climate change is just not happening. As those folks demand that kids in schools be taught more strongly about the “settled science” of climate change what do the experts do when the truth is “inconvenient?” They change the “facts”. Now there is a narrative that man made climate change is causing more rain. The party never said that there would be droughts, it has always warned of more rain caused by cows farting and we oiks heading to the Med on Easyjet not by millionaires and freeloading politicians travelling on private jets to COP 30 or Davos.
But hang on: so why is water having to be rationed? It is not because less water is falling from the skies or that we are not capturing more of it. The last reservoir completed in the UK was in 1992. As it happen rainfall in 1991 was just 999.7 mm making it rather a dry year: cue cries of mana made global warming. There were indeed hosepipe bans in 1992 as 1989 to 1993 were dry years but by 1994 the weather had changed, rains had been heavy and there were no bans at all!
So the amount of water falling over the past few years has been greater than in 1991 and so the amount captured will be a bit more ( see reservoir levels at Tegid and Vyrnwy versus long term levels) so what has changed? Simple: in 1991 the population of the UK was 57 million. Today it is just under 70 million according to official data but with a material number of undocumented illegals here it is almost certainly now in excess of 70 million.
The birth rate per woman needed to keep a population static is just over 2. In 1991 the UK birth rate per woman was 1.82. Last year it was 1.41. Thus, had the UK enjoyed net immigration of zero the population today would have been sub 50 million not in excess of 70 million.
Now what are the odds on teachers being allowed to discuss with our kids these facts, that is to say real things that actually happened not just the fevered fantasies of the Doom Goblin and others? Nil. The kids will be brainwashed.
PS. Before my potential sons in law and other misguided muddle headed thinkers of the left start starts screaming about leakage rates in the Britain’s ageing water pipeline system, the truth is, once again, inconvenient for them. After years of neglect under state ownership leakage rates in 1991, two years after the blessed Margaret privatized the system, were in excess of 30%.
In the old days Governments of both parties took your water rates cash and rather than invest it on the water infrastructure, they spaffed the cash elsewhere. The Ofwat system established by the wicked Tories forced companies to spend certain amounts on infrastructure while pushing through price increases that almost always lagged inflation, real terms price cuts. The UK leakage rate last year was 19%
Again, inconvenient facts that the Group Think of the left ignore as they demand renationalization and blame those farting cows on next year’s hosepipe ban.

I happen to think that a declining population is a bad thing but we can all agree or disagree about that. We can argue until the cows come home about what is the optimum population is. For what it is worth, when Britain ruled a third of the world and had the world’s second biggest economy in 1914 the population was 46 million.
But what you cannot debate if you look at the facts, the cold hard numbers, is that if there is rationing of water next summer, a gimme in my view, it is entirely down not to man made climate change but to record levels of immigration.
Others may argue that record immigration is a good thing as we worship at the alter of diversity and our prayers are answered with the 23rd Albanian barber shop opening in town. That s not the point. The point is simply that it is immigration not farting cows which is why you may have to water your roses with recycled urine next summer
